Hi All! Hope you all are well.
For a week or so I thought I was going to turn into an icile LOL
But low and behold I did not even thou the freezing winds tried their best.
It’s actually starting to warm up some and I can base this on the fact that my doggie wants to go for longer walks.
She is really starting to get the hand of being the only doggie now and is starting to take the lead in where she wants to go. Before she would just be a follower. And it’s kind of exciting for us to see her adjusting so well. Every so often she still looks around for her buddy but it’s happening less and less as time goes on.
DH tries his best to bond with her and has found that she loves to play fetch the stick. Something she didn’t do to well before as the two dogs would end up playing with each other and the stick.
Still, DH has a hard time missing his doggie and still has his moments of tears. These arise when DH has his shower as his doggie would be in the bathroom waiting for his wet master to emerge from behind the shower curtain and DH would see him when he drew it open. And when he would push back his computer chair to find his doggie curled up behind him. And he really misses the barking in the car. And that one I find strange cause DH use to complain when his doggie wouldn’t hush up which eventually made him 1/2 deaf in one ear. 14 years of barking can do that LOL
And the girl, well she doesn’t do any of these things and kind of goes off to be on her own until you say walk or hungry and then out she comes wagging her tail and getting all excited.
And if that don’t beat all DH wants me to get him another dog. What do you think I said “NO WAY!”
The female is 5 years old and that means we have at least 10 more years with her. Gees, I need freedom. I hate to belly ache but our son is grown and gone, our plants went to my sister’s 6 years ago, after the fish and the birds we had over the years went on to the kingdom in the sky I said no more. I really don’t need anything more to tie me down. I like to travel and explore which we use to do a lot and pets and plants just don’t allow for weeks of enjoyment without running back to take care of them. And I just can’t leave my dogs with someone else we have only just met or whom our dogs don’t really know. Taking a pet on a trip just hasn’t worked out for the best for us either. Hotels don’t let them in and campgrounds are getting about the same. Going up to the cottage is about all we can do. I don’t think I am being selfish in the least about it either.
One thing DH loves, and I guess it’s because he’s a night worker, is his mornings out. So I give him one chore, as I can’t do it myself most days, and that is taking pictures. And he is doing quite well at learning the manual settings on my camera. Someday I will find the time to learn them too LOL
But in the mean while he’s the camera man during the week and he takes some pretty good shots. I’ve shown him some skills I was taught way back when and aside from the zooming he’s doing pretty good.
I have tried to tell him that the camera has 4 settings aside from the manual settings for zooming but he tends to forget thinking he will miss the shot if he makes the adjustment. ‘But isn’t it better to make the adjustment and come home with a clear zoomed shot then a crappy one’, I say.
And he gets so disappointed when he sees an owl or hawk and takes lots of pictures only to see that they are all blurry or too dark from being so far away LOL
Today I told him he has to start going to different places and taking more interesting shots because I can only view so many trees, water and grass. It gets boring. So he’s going to work on that but I won’t hold my breath as everywhere he goes he takes the dog and what do dogs like; trees, water and grass LOL
But like I said before he does come home with some amazing shots and this one is no exception.

Two of the eight are banded. You can see the yellow tags on their right wings. The only two to have pure black beaks as well.
This group kept following DH and doggie around and no matter which way they went the swans would turn around and follow. DH said it was quiet comical.
I suggested he go to the store and buy the biggest bag of mixed seed they have, take it to this place and dump it in a good size line so they could have some real food for a change.
Hey, it beats bread which, and I really wish people who feed the birds in the parks would know this, they don’t eat unless there is nothing else offered.
Birds eat seeds, grains, pebbles, grasses, moss, fish, algae, and some will even eat nuts and wild rice. All natual stuff. Nothing cooked, baked, fried or processed in any way. And in the winter some eat salt. What does a pet store carry these things for, us humans? LOL
Well I must gets some sleep before heading in to work this afternoon.
It’s been a slice all.
