Wow! Since our doggie has been diagnosed with cancer we have met way too many people with pets who either have or have passed away from cancer. It’s astounding. We also met a man who tried to talk DH into taking our doggie to some quack to use a rife wand on him. He also claimed to be able to talk to dogs with him mind. LOL But I have to admit I met a lot of terrific people we have never met before because we never go out at the hours we have been.
The minute we heard the news of cancer we took time off work and have been going around to all our doggies favorite places and meeting up with his regular buds and meeting new ones. In the evening I have been reading a lot of data on pets and cancer and it’s just blowing me away.
Because of the way the situation was handled with our doggie we decided to go and get a second opinion. hahaha. I laugh because the second opinion we got was not an independant second opinion but one based on the reports from the first vet. We made an appointment with the second vet and she wanted his history from the first vet so over it was faxed. Then she called us on the phone at the end of the day and just read from the first vets report and told us there really was no use in us going in to see her at all. They sure do stick together. So if the first vet messed up and is just trying to cover up, how are we ever to know if we can’t even get an independent second opinion. She couldn’t identify what type of cancer it was and used a lot of maybe’s and if’s. Hardly solid facts.
Other then his eye doggie is doing great and it’s hard to believe he has cancer at all. We are quite concerned about the eye as it’s stitched up but no vet wants to deal with it which forces us back to the first vet who doesn’t care about the eye and wants him dead.
He is totally back to his normal self and is showing no signs that he is even slowing down. But apparently this ’whatever type of cancer he has’ shows no signs and just spreads rapidly throughout his body. Shouldn’t he be slowing down, not playing with his buds, be in pain or something? We don’t see anything different and its freaking us out. We still feel our choice to not put him down on the 23rd was the right choice as he is still so full of life.
We have come to terms with it so when we do see the signs we’ll go about doing him right, but not a moment sooner. We kind of wish he would just pass away in his sleep so we don’t have to take him in for the death needle. I hate to murder anything and that is basically what we would be doing with the needle.
Family and friends want a wake to celebrate his life so we have everything ready except the food. DH has picked out the urn and wants his paw print embedded in it. It’s rather cute. We haven’t decided if we’ll keep the ashes, bury them or scatter them.
Anyhey, this is the last post on this situation.
I am off now to feed the doggies who are presently outside playing in the snow.
Have a great one all.
