It’s 6 am on a beautiful Sunday morning and we’ve just headed out the door. Yesterday we noticed the butterflies are beginning to arrive. We enjoy observing them during their migration periods. This morning we had some time to get some images. While heading to the park we were struck by an awesome scene. Picture it; the moon is on one side and the sun is on the other. And they are not just any moon or sun. The moon is very close and you can see the moon’s surface. The sun is on fire and burning an awesome red. Not a scene you want to miss if you can spare the time. We could spare some time so we decided to head up to the bridge to get a spectacular view and a few images. Here are a few.

You’ll notice that with the sun there is this smoke billowing up from the ground. That is a fire at a rubber plant. The fireman have arrived and this is the smoke from it being put out. At the time we thought some factory was blowing off smoke and was interrupting our scene
It wasn’t till we arrived home and the DH put on the news that we discovered we had observed a fire going on.
Last weekend, on the 10th there was this big explosion up at the Sunrise Propane Depot in Downsview. Quiet the disaster area. Thank goodness we didn’t observe that one.
But on the July 1st holiday we went to see some friends up in Woddbridge for the fireworks. We are cruising along the highway and I see in the distance this smoke rising up. I say to the DH, ‘Look. There is a fire over there. ‘Really?, he says, ‘That is where we are headed. Are you sure?’ Yup, I was sure. As we get closer and closer to our destination the smoke grew bigger and bigger. Holy canoli! We can’t get in to see our friends. The police have blocked off the entire block. And it’s a large block. When we get home later that night we find out there was a fire at a flour mill.

Weird; us observing two fires. I’d rather observe butterflies.
