Hockey, Hockey, Hockey

Well I almost missed the hockey season finale’.

I told my boss yesterday that I need a break. I have been working too much with very little time for my family or myself. I need to watch at least one game of hockey to its end without falling asleep, you know. Of course I couldn’t add the hockey part in with my request, LOL So I am off till Monday. Yippee. Maybe I can get some sun on my ghostly white flesh and look like a human again, LOL

I have no pictures to show you today as any ones taken since my last post are all on DH’s computer and it is not on my priority list to move them over just yet. When I do I will share. He has told me he has pictures of ‘his’ geese which mated, laid eggs, eggs hatched and they are all out swimming now and getting bigger too. I basically missed the entire season of spring, LOL. Ah, such is the life of an ‘over’ working adult.

But….onto the hockey…
I am, if you recall, a big Penguins & Red Wings fan. And as it just so happens, my two favs are shooting for Stanley’s cup, again. If everything goes as it has been then Detroit will take Stanley home with them on Friday night. (Each have won on their own ice.) And you can bet that I won’t be falling asleep during the game. Not because I will be well rested by then but because our house will be full of rowdy hockey buffs in 3 age groups watching on 3 tvs on all 3 floors. A Stanley Party, for sure!

Well, now that I have checked in I will let you all go for now and get on to getting the rest of my list done. I have much to do before Friday night. I’ll post again after I have transfered some photos over.

Take it easy till then.

Long Time No Write

Hello, Everyone! I hope April has been treating you well. Did you have a great Easter time?

It’s been a fairly busy time for me and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be slowing down any time soon. The economy is not doing well and thus many companies are finding themselves either closing down or reducing employees or their work hours. Any one of these causes great strains on owners, managers and employees. All of this brings my workload up in trying to resolve and find solutions that will benifit all parties involved.

But aside from that we had a quiet Easter time and have been taking in the beauty of the outdoors whenever possible. For me that has been short but DH has captured quiet a few photos of the wildlife and any new plant lives that have popped up. What I miss from working too many hours I view via the photos.

I’ll share with you today 8 wildlife photos he took.

In the park there are many birdhouses set up and this marten has begun nesting in this one.

We have noticed there are a few new species roaming the lakes this year. Aside from some new black swans we have some new loons.

It’s always good to see the big herons have returned.

DH came across quiet a few geese nests but this one he didn’t see until he was just a bit too close. The parents did not like it and began making a fuss.

The red cardinals are singing from the trees and DH was lucky enough to capture this one which kept flying away trying to avoid getting its picture taken.

Unfortunately DH went to one park where dogs are illegally let off their leashes and one of these mutts killed this gopher right in front of him. DH felt so bad for the gopher that he picked it up and put it in this water hole. There was nothing DH could do as the damage was already done. The mutts owner thought nothing of this tragedy, called his dog and took off.

These last two photos are DH pride. Last year he observed the nesting, birth and growth of a family of falcons. This year he chanced upon one of the young ones out hunting.

It was later also under attack from of all things a crow.

It was way up in the air and DH had to zoom in so it’s not the best picture but you can see the action nevertheless.

It’s hard to take up close photos with a dog. Most wildlife flee. This leaves DH zooming in a lot. LOL

I think he just may go out and buy the Canon Rebel package which comes with an extended lenz. I hope he does because he captures some really great scenes and he sure could use a camera that will get a better picture for him.

Well that is it for me tonight. I’ll try my best to get a post in as time allows.

Until then…

It’s Raining

Oh, yes! It’s been raining all day and hasn’t let up yet. And the winds are blowing something fierce. This is fantastic weather for the plants and Mother Nature is doing a good job of cleaning up. There are broken branches littering around everywhere. On the ground and hanging from sturdy branches. I almost got conked on the head by one that decided it was time to come on down just as I was passing bye. LOL
Yesterday, even thou it was just a bit windy, I had two visitors. Both have decided to make our backyard their home for a while. One of them will stay a bit longer then the other I imagine as I spotted the makings of a nest.

I had to zoom in to get a shot because the closer I got the more she moved away.

This ladybird was just the opposite and wanted to follow me around.
When we see these types of critters we know spring has made a welcome appearance.

We have been extremely busy and this is why I have not posted in a while.
Aside from work we had 2 family members pass away, one aunt and one uncle. For them we had to deal with funerals, lawyers, selling off of properties, etc. for both. Last week  a close friend of ours husband shot himself in the head and died. On Wednesday another family friends mother passed away and we went to the viewing this afternoon and will be attending the funeral tomorrow. I think we have had enough of this kind of stuff. I am sick of the smell of funeral homes and my knees ache from kneeling on those wooden pew benches. I have grown a fond dislike to lawyers too.

And if that don’t beat all our female dog has some type of mark on her eyelid and a small dot cut just above it so we have an appointment with a new vet next week. I thought the mark looked like a burn of some sore but I haven’t a clue where she got it or the cut. I look over her entire body every day and DH noticed it yesterday morning. Either way I hope it isn’t anything serious as I don’t think I could deal with another dog situation just at the moment.
Selfish, perhaps, but hopefully all works out and she is okay and the marks heal and that is the end of it.

Anyhey, I am getting rather tired, it’s been a long day, so I will bid you all a Goodnight.
Keep Well.

The Brick

If you have been reading my blog then you may recall back in early July 2008 some nut case threw a brick and our female dog. http://daisyq.wordpress.com/2008/07/05/what-is-it-with-people/

Well yesterday DH and I decided to venture into that park looking for new signs of life to photograph. Thou there was few to be had we did find that brick that nut case threw at her. As you can see by the image below its a paving brick. I think it weighs about 20lbs. That oak leaf beside it is from a giant oak whose leaves are larger then the average oak leaf. The park is very old as are many of the trees within.

When DH seen it the first thing he said was, “We are going to be coming back to this park on a regular bases and you are going to point this guy out to me and then I am going to whack him with this brick and see how he likes it.”
Well I have never seen that guy again and I doubt that we ever will because he basically knew he had committed a crime. It’s a big park too so finding this guy is like a needle in a haystack, unless you sit on it you won’t know it’s there LOL
On another note….I must have some heavenly power LOL. Yesterday I mentioned that it hadn’t rained as it normally does this time of year and believe it or not it rained and it rained a good one, pretty much all day. There was a break period and that is when we ventured into the park. But it only stopped for a short period, long enough for us to get the female out to do her thing which she didn’t do enough of in the morning, and then on our way back it threw a few drops down as if to say, ‘Your time is up. I’m coming down so you better hurry home.’ LOL And no soon did we get in the front door when it poured down a good one. Later last night after the rain stopped the winds came and have been blowing up a storm ever since.
So I can now declare that Spring weather is officially here. Yippee!!

Busy Me

Spring makes one busy. After spending much of the winter indoors from too much cold, spring draws one outside if only to let one know it’s here to enjoy before summer sends one back inside to escape the heat.
Strangley there hasn’t been much rain as of yet and the plant life just doesn’t seem to have any ambition to rear its buds. The critters are abundant whether they be scavaging for food, mating or fixing up their homes. Skunks, foxes, racoons and even the odd coyote have been spotted as well as many varieties of squirrels, a couple of beavers, lots of swans, ducks, geese and hords of seagulls. Many of the smaller birds are beginning to mate. We’ve seen lots of red wings, robins, starlings and sparrows and seen several woodpeckers. We even came across a single snow white owl and a couple of perigrees falcons. While we looked for the possum it was still no where to be found. Snails may still be sleeping but one garden snake came by to show it had risen from its winter den.
No, spring may be here by calender dating but not weather wise. But perhaps todays comfortable air will stay and bring forth springs true nature; the glory of birth & rebirth.

Scrappers vs Scrap Artists!
Yes, there is a difference.
A big difference!

Today I took a look at my wordpress sidebar and found someone in my house had added a bunch of scrapper links. Boy was I peeved.
So, no offence to those that were listed there, but, if I don’t visit your sites your links don’t belong on my blog.
I added the sites I do like and visit when I find the time. They are mainly Scrap Shops and a few Paint Shop Pro scrappers. From them you can find a world of other scrap folks. And I gave the scrappers I do like visiting their own category. I enjoy their storytelling.
I like Ikea Goddess so I gave her her own category. I enjoy reading Angies pages, seeing her redesigning her house and doing her 365 layouts.

Perhaps the one that put those links on my blog should get their own computer and their own blog. Gee Whiz!

That’s what I get for leaving myself logged in while the computer was doing it’s scanning and me out doing a bit of shopping. I don’t leave the screensaver on while it’s scanning so that is how they got in. The scan finished and off they went using my log in.
The nerve of the one to come along and start using my log in for their own purposes.
I even found out that they signed me up for some friggin weeworld crap. I found an email from this site in my inbox this morning. Yeah like I like to go and spend money on crap like that, NOT! I don’t even shop online for goodness sake!
Geez, I dislike those types of places with a passion. Who ever it was that came out with a way to suck peoples money out of them with virtual crap like that should be hung up by their toenails and tickled forever with a feather.

Well I ranted! I am done!

Oh, the sounds of Spring

Happy Spring to those in the Northern Hemisphere!

Thou the sun shone bright in the sky and the birds chirped merrily in the naked trees this first day of spring, winters chill lingered as a sign it wasn’t going to leave us just yet.
Last weekend kids were seen running around with cutoff shirts and shorts but they were not doing so today. Instead many were taking in the last of the hot spots of the March Break.
Rogers Centre a.k.a. The Skydome, had the Spring Fling and Disney on Ice. The Ex was jam packed at Wizard World; rides, petting zoos, stage shows and more.
If the kids could stand the chilly air they could either tapped the Maple Trees for Syrup at several Conservation Areas or on private farms or take in the sights at the Toronto Zoo or Pioneer Village. If they couldn’t there was plenty to do indoors too. The ROM had a dino hunt and exploration of Egypt as well as a petting zoo. Over all the cities were alive will sights, sounds and activities.
If you haven’t taken in any of the Break adventures check here, some events are still going on and will go on when March Break is over.

Ah, it’s so quiet here tonight with everyone out and about so we are just relaxing; watch some t.v., catch up on computer stuff, enjoying some hot cocoa to warm up our chillin’ bones and enjoy the quiet while it lasts.

Happy Spring, All!
